Deco House
Pascoe Vale South, Victoria |
Thoughtfully crafted to harmonise traditional detailing with contemporary sensibilities, Deco House stands as a sensitive renovation project where Art Deco charm converges with modern family living.

Originally built in the 1930s, the home had undergone some c.1990s interior alterations, at the hands of the previous owners. Although many of the heritage features had been kept intact, the overall interior aesthetic was confused and lacked cohesion. Our approach was to sensitively restore the essence of the home, preserving its heritage while integrating modern functionality.

Parquetry flooring throughout provides a timeless foundation, complemented by intricate stone detailing that pays homage to the Art Deco era. We ensured that every original ceiling rose and cornice was lovingly restored to its former glory.

To enhance the living experience, we collaborated with local artisans to create bespoke pieces like the office desk and dining table, infusing the space with a unique character. A marvellous stone threshold serves as a transition point between old and new, while soft, warm neutral tones envelop the interior, creating a soothing atmosphere.

The layout has been optimised to accommodate both family life and entertainment, with a rumpus room adjoining the main living area. Bedrooms, bathrooms, and the home office maintain the integrity of the original structure, while a new extension houses a spacious, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area, tailored for modern family living.

It was important that the charm and the DNA of the original house flowed into the functional, contemporary living spaces
