Our vision for 9-13 Stewart Street embodies a harmonious blend of heritage preservation and contemporary innovation, paying homage to the rich industrial history of Richmond while meeting the demands of its dynamic present.

Drawing inspiration from the nearby Richmond train station, our design orchestrates an architectural symphony reminiscent of interlocking railway crossings, resulting in an elegant and sophisticated addition that seamlessly integrates into its surroundings.

At the heart of our design ethos is the preservation of the heritage-listed building at the podium level. We recognize the significance of this structure in Richmond’s architectural narrative and have taken great care to sensitively retain its character, ensuring its continued presence as a vital component of the streetscape.

In response to the escalating demand for commercial spaces in this sought-after locale, we have extended vertically, crafting seven levels of office space above the heritage podium. Each level offers a generous floor area ranging from 450 to 780 square meters, providing adaptable and versatile spaces conducive to modern business practices.

The ground floor has been meticulously planned to accommodate retail spaces, contributing to the vibrant street life of Stewart Street, while also housing a functional car park to serve the needs of occupants and visitors alike.

Recognising the importance of sustainability and user experience, we have dedicated an entire basement level to thoughtfully crafted end-of-trip facilities spanning 227 square meters. These facilities are designed to enhance the well-being and convenience of occupants, promoting alternative modes of transportation and fostering a sense of community among tenants.

Façade Articulation

Site - Richmond Station

Positioned on a corner block and directly across from the bustling Richmond train station, the façade detailing takes inspiration from the crossing railway lines, creating a dynamic form that can be further explored and abstracted.

Form - Context Articulation

From the railway section, an architectural motif can be utilized as both the façade and structural elements of the project.

Form - Context Articulation

In plan, the crossing lines can create a modulated, dynamic grid that can be expressed through the façade elements.

When the architectural motif and modular section are combined, they create an impressive streetscape that forms a unique corner condition, making the project visible from multiple vantage points around the site while still integrating with the area's identity.
