A fresh perspective | Why we’re venturing into the landscape sector

“Every great building has a great landscape,” says Cera Stribley co-founder Chris Stribley. Architecture and landscape aren’t just complementary; they are deeply intertwined, each enhancing the other to create a cohesive experience.

For us, the decision to bring landscape design in-house was a natural evolution—a step toward delivering holistic, integrated spaces that honour the relationship between built form and nature.

Harvest House, Chris Stribley’s own home, exemplifies Cera Stribley’s commitment to seamless integration between architecture and landscape.

The idea had been simmering for years. As our practice grew, so did our conviction that landscape should be part of our design DNA. It was simply a matter of timing. That moment arrived with Carlo Gabriele, our newly appointed Lead Landscape Designer.

“From the first meeting, Carlo felt like the perfect fit,” Chris recalls. “His passion for ecology and landscape got me excited. Looking through his past work—both in Australia and Italy—it was clear that his approach aligned with our vision. He brings an incredible depth of knowledge, creativity, and a strong respect for place.”

Carlo’s expertise extends beyond aesthetics. With a Bachelor’s in Agriculture and a Master’s in Landscape Architecture, his approach is grounded in site sensitivity, ecological sustainability, and the enduring relationship between people and place.

“Landscape design is about cultivating life,” Carlo explains. “It’s about creating a backdrop for life’s most meaningful moments—a setting rich in colour, texture, and vitality.”

Beyond his technical expertise, Carlo brings an infectious romanticism to his craft. “I never follow trends,” he says. “Being Italian, I have thousands of cultural references to draw from, which I reinterpret to suit the personality of my clients, their needs, and the site’s unique characteristics. I believe in a collaborative process—one where clients are actively involved in shaping a shared vision of lifestyle.”

With Carlo at the helm, our new Landscape Design team will deepen our commitment to designing spaces that feel complete, where architecture and nature exist in harmony. This marks a new chapter for Cera Stribley—one where we don’t just design buildings, but the landscapes that bring them to life.
