A workplace with no workstations, On the Spot HQ is the ultimate anti-office. Designed for a tech startup with a predominantly remote team, the project rethinks the role of the contemporary workplace.

A space built for experience, atmosphere and connection. The response is a hospitality-led environment situated within one of Melbourne’s most storied addresses on Collins Street. On the Spot HQ serves as a business development tool over a conventional office.

The interior draws heavily from higher-end hospitality design and experience. Natural stone, venetian plaster, smoked mirrors and rich timber detailing come together in a palette that is warm, tactile, and quietly luxurious. With each material selected to elevate the sensory experience it brings to the room and reinforcing the distinct non-corporate character.

Around it, a series of meeting environments to cater varying levels of formality — from intimate booth seating, a residential style lounge and a grand boardroom for high level discussions.

LIghting design was integral to the design of the space. A layered approach, anchored by a feature Barrisol stretch ceiling that allows the space to shift mood effortlessly throughout the day. Power, AV and services are carefully concealed within the architecture, with On the Spot’s own facilities management technology embedded seamlessly throughout.

The result is a highly resolved environment where architecture, technology and hospitality operate as one. Redefining the conventional workplace as we know it.
