Celebrating Boxshall: Here’s to great clients and bold designs

On Thursday, 12 December 2024, we had the pleasure of celebrating the completion of one of our most cherished projects to date: Boxshall in Brighton. In the grand scheme of the built environment, it’s not often we get to stand back and celebrate what we’ve achieved with everyone who helped make it happen – so this was a night to remember.

The event was hosted in one of Boxshall’s stunning penthouse apartments, and the space came alive with conversations and laughter. Among the guests were Boxshall’s new residents, industry peers, and friends and family who have supported the project along the way. It was a moment to reflect on what’s been built – not just a collection of homes, but a genuine landmark for Brighton.

As Cera Stribley Co-Founder and Managing Principal, Dom Cerantonio, said on the night: “It takes a bold client to sign off on a bold design. We are eternally grateful to our client, JACMAX, for believing in our vision and entrusting us throughout the process.”

Boxshall occupies a rare corner block in Brighton, and from the outset, the aim was to create something truly special. The low-rise design takes its cues from the rhythms of the bayside, marrying sculptural forms with classical proportions. The site’s elevation and abundant natural light gave us a canvas to design something dynamic yet timeless – a project that feels grounded in its setting but elevated in ambition.

Inside, the apartments are equally considered. Designed in collaboration with the celebrated Dutch design practice, Studio Piet Boon, each of the fifteen homes is unique, but together they create a seamless collection. From concept to completion, this project has been a testament to what can happen when architects, interior designers, clients, and builders work in sync.

JACMAX’s Managing Director, Trent Skurrie, summed it up perfectly: “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved here. Our brief to Cera Stribley was to design a landmark for the Brighton area – a project that would not only reflect the sophistication and character of this iconic suburb but also set a new benchmark for design excellence. Boxshall embodies our commitment to delivering projects of the highest quality, and we’re thrilled to see our vision brought to life in such an exceptional way, thanks to the outstanding craftsmanship of the Coben team, and everyone involved along the way.”

The night was the perfect culmination of the years of work and collaboration that went into Boxshall. Seeing the residents experience their new homes for the first time – and hearing their excitement – was a reminder of why we do what we do.

We owe an enormous thank you to everyone who has played a role in bringing this project to life — you know who you are.
